We publish tomorrow’s gold forecast before it happens — then grade ourselves on it in public the next day.

Anyone can explain the market after it moves. The test is whether the number was on the page before the close. Ours is, every trading day, with the date on it — and when we get it wrong we leave the wrong page exactly where it was.

Why a jeweler publishes forecasts at all

We are not a news site and not an advisory firm. We are a family goldsmith in Suez, trading on the same street since 1986, now in its second generation. We read the market every morning for one very practical reason: we have to price our own stock before we open the doors.

At some point we decided that keeping that reading to ourselves made no sense. So we started publishing it — with probabilities attached, with the date attached, and with a verdict published the following morning. The whole archive is public, misses included.

“We publish the forecast before it happens, and hold ourselves to account for it afterwards.” — the rule the whole section runs on

The call we have open right now

Kitco’s weekly survey published on 18 September returned a reading we had not seen before in this cycle: 16 of 16 Wall Street analysts bullish, none bearish.

We went the other way. Not because we think gold is heading down — we do not — but because a completed consensus usually means the buyers are already in. Our published scenarios for the week were 45% range-bound, 35% continued rally, 20% pullback, written before the week opened, with a falsification condition attached in the same paragraph.

It settles on the Friday 25 September close, and the verdict goes up on the Saturday morning — whichever way it lands.

If you are buying in Egypt

Gold in Egypt is sold by karat, by the gram, with a separate making charge and a hallmark stamped into the piece. If you are visiting or living here and none of that is familiar, we wrote a plain guide to what you are actually paying for and what to check before you hand over money — including at shops that are not ours.
