Two things changed overnight: the Gulf escalation entered a new phase, and the odds of a September hike jumped past 65%. When the fundamentals move, the forecast moves with them.
Spot $4,429 · −0.27% today · 21K in Suez EGP 6,325 ·
We said Monday would be range-bound between $4,430 and $4,530. Monday closed at $4,441 — inside the range, at its lower edge, which is exactly where we said the risk sat.
Two consecutive correct calls.

Two-week low, third consecutive down session.
Geopolitical escalation lifts gold when it frightens people about their money. It weighs on gold when it raises inflation and rates. The difference between the two cases is oil.
Why did we move from range-bound to bearish? Because three things changed: hike odds rose eight points, the yield broke 4.78%, and gold lost $4,436, its first support. We are not attached to a view; we read the numbers.
Covering the Tuesday 1 September session
🇪🇬 21K in Suez tracked the ounce through the session; the conversion table on the Arabic page gives the gram at every scenario level.
The whole scenario hung on one release: ISM manufacturing and JOLTS job openings at 4:00 PM Cairo time. Strong data would confirm the decline toward $4,360; weak data would produce a fast bounce toward $4,460 and above.
That condition is what made the call gradable. It is also, as the next day showed, what made it wrong in an instructive way.
| $4,335 | The low of the last upward wave. While it holds, this is a correction inside an uptrend; broken, it becomes a reversal and the rules change |
Gold was still 21% below its January 2026 record of $5,608.
